The landscape of South Holland has directly inspired and shaped the postcard idea. The repetition of the linear landscape draws the eye to focus on the detail and individuality of the features that sit within it.
It was on a visit to Cowbit that I noticed it’s bus shelter, and how characterful it was, sitting alone in the landscape. I began thinking about these small, humble public spaces where people meet, wait, maybe chat with others or have time to pause in their day and reflect.
I’m hoping that a selection of the village postcard images produced through this project will be exhibited in these spaces. I’m keen to talk to local people about the possibility of how these shelters, and the buses that connect them, can become future creative spaces.
